This video is about Bonds. How bonds work, how to invest in bonds, why invest in bonds, what is a treasury bond, what is a t-bill, what is a t-bond, what is a t-note. Bonds seem like a bad investment, but there are times when investing in bonds could be very smart.

Learn about bonds here and watch the next video about a bond trade idea that you might like.

I was in Jr High in 1980. To put some things in perspective-
Our local bank was offering 20% on a savings account that you couldn’t withdraw from for at least 5 years.
Mortgages were about 16%.
I think car loans were 20%.
I’m literally going off memory though.

I held puts on the TLT in 2022 with good success. It was a popular trade. Though I found it to be pretty stressful hanging on the words of Jerome Powell and wondering how the bond market would react to macro news. I'm wondering if holding Tbills will be similarly stressful. Personally I find owning quality busineses maybe a better fit for me. Looking forward to the next video.

Thanks for the video. Can you let me know how bond pricing works? E.g. if I buy a 10 year bond at 5%, and then in 1 year the rate reduces to 2% on the 10 year. I’m holding a 10 year (9 years left) with a +3% rate compared to what the market is offering. Can I then sell this to someone else and make more money on my investment? If so, what is the increased value of my bond and what % gain would I have made?

Thanks! Have been wondering about this for some time.

Looking forward to your next video on bonds. Are there any tax advantages for buying Aussie bonds over US bonds?

It is the US Government that issues bonds. They do not print the money, that is done by the Federal Reserve ( It states on the top of bank notes, Federal Reserve Note) and the bank's, who in turn loan it to the Government. If the Government prints its own money, why should there be a need to issue bonds?

Howard Marks which is a very successful equity investor started his career with bonds and still use them. So they might be not so good as equities but still useful in some situations.

There's no mention about Bond Trading in this video, as the title suggests.

Making The US look good and dissing Russia and Venezuela without proof is unprofessional and pathetic man. If you had shown proof of when and if then OK, but just saying something is not good man.
