I understand where a lot of people are coming from but there things such as promise rings, typically used for younger poeple in relationships but its just a proomise to stay loyal and such. "Dont give a ring for Valentine's day gifts" but rings are also just accessories. And yes it was an expensive ring but i even then, people can just wear and be given rings without it needing to be engagement rings
