Vancouverites once again pay the highest rents in the country

Metro Vancouverites, once again, are paying the highest rents in the country, according to new rental data. Kier Junos reports on how increasingly high rents affect who can build a future in the region.

I’m a nurse who left Vancouver exclusively due to housing costs. I know many others who have done the same, when friends who were doctors and pharmacists started leaving because of the cost of housing it became clear that governments are failing and don’t seem to have the political will to implement better policy solutions. We watch, we wait for something to change. I know many would love to return one day, speaking as a 7th generation Vancouverite, with family that has deep roots in the city— that said, I won’t hold my breath.

Canada has so much land we need to build more cities

And Canada has the highest 'taxes' in the world. That's what everyone says about Canada. It's a beautiful country but the taxes are 'sky high'. BC pays an extra 16% on top of the price you on the price tag. Wow! Everyone pays GST + Sales Tax (except Alberta and they are 'scorned' for that). Most Provinces 'pump' money into Quebec - called 'Transfer Payments' - every year to Quebec!!

Imagine being the second biggest country on Earth and having the second biggest housing bubble crisis in the world only behind New Zealand, a small island nation. Canadian governments are responsible for this mess.

Left the city. Don't paid their mortgages. You have high degree, so move out.

This is what you get with massive immigration, because the large majority of new immigrants end up in Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver.
