Sample Space, Event and Probability are discussed in this lecture.

Sample Space is a set of all possible outcomes of an experiment.

Sample Space can be discrete or continuous.

Discrete sample space has distinct outcomes. If number of outcomes is finite and distinct then it is finite discrete sample space like sample space of tossing a coin. If number of outcomes is infinite and distinct then it is infinite discrete sample space like sample space of tossing a coin until two consecutive tosses are tails.

In Continuous sample sapce, the outcome of an experiment is continuous in a particular range between lower and upper limits. For example, if speed of car is an experiment then its sample space is continuous sample space becuase speed of car can take any value between its lowest and highest speed.

Event is a subset of sample space.

Probability is the ratio of number of elements of event to number of elements of sample space.

Sample Space, Event and probability with examples is explained in this video.
