Mainstay is pretty good. It softens up once it’s washed and it comes in lots of cool colors. I like it.

I actually could see the crochet pillow case trim. I have a large monitor that is at 125% enlarged so I could see the intricate beauty in it. I remember when I was young, my grandma would embroider pillow cases and trim them with her crochet work. I never made the trims but also used to embroider our pillow cases to make them fancy. I also crocheted intricate doilies when my daughter was a baby ...I can't do it now though! I had my 3 aged 1, 4, and 5 plus was a licensed daycare with a house full of kids, plus keep my home spotless and I could concentrate on those intricate patterns...now I keep it simple. Brain damage sucks!!

Look for patterns for edgings for fleece (baby) blankets.

I've heard of people using cheap hair conditioner to soften RH yarn, too

I have just recently learned that a small bit of vinegar will help to soften up the fibers. Good luck with that.

I shop at Walmart all the time but have never paid any attention to their Mainstay. I will be anxious to see how you like it then I'll try it...or not if you don't like it. Does it "pill" up into little balls or get shaggy? That will be great to find out. I love your hoody..great gift!

Looking forward to your full review of the yarn; that's a great price point for that much yarn!

I have never tried Mainstay yarn before but it looks nice. Plus, that pink is so pretty. The other day when you were showing us the pillowcases the white one did catch my eye. I bet it is vintage and it was a wonderful find. You would need some crochet thread and tiny hooks to do it. It’s very pretty.
