Sometimes there is really bad information out there, and this is some of it. In this video I will show you how the talent and mastery system works so that you know what to do and what to look for when leveling up your tribesman.

I confirm, i've been playing the same tribesman for weeks now and died several time. Everytime I lvl up again from 43 - 55 i get the same masteries and perks.

Noticed that a while ago, no need to fully re level to realize that the perks where all the same. Nice vid as usual.

It is hard coded into them as the devs use seeds to decide how they spawn. That also means you can technically read out their future talents before detering them in the first place.

That answers one question I had. Was wondering if what better to get tribesman at a lower level so levelling them up would offer more chances to gain traits. I guess it's just as well to deter them at level 50 to skip levelling.

holy crap i just got a flint crafter with 122 craftsman 122 weapon crafting and 120 armor crafting, i hope after i lvl them a bit (they are 50) they can get at least one of the crafting skill perks

This is... mindboggling and also eye opener. I had several that started out 'meh' but did get better on the long run (perk wise), so i thought.. well if they die, might get better. Thats quite insane that past, present AND future of any slav.. detered tribesman is actualy hardcoded. I even saw a base shitty porter getting 30% craftspeed perks later on, how many detered i shouldve kept and lvl up instead of trowing em away because i thought they be crap anyway. I did know the proficiency was a fixed aspect and their starter-perks, but i thought the removal (and gaining) of perks was just a RNG every lvl up... sad news this is. Good news true, but sad nontheless.

Thank you for this info. Can you tell me what does the glowing arms mean on certain tribesman? Thank you for taking the time with my inquiry.

My observation was that the lower the tribes man, the fewer negative traits they would gain. Maybe it was all predetermined. But with like a level 5 they would get just positives. Say a level 20 might might already have them and have to improve.

We tested and confirmed this on a number of our tribesmen . The traits and stats are locked in on spawn, and leveling them up "discovers" what they are. It's still RNG per say, but it's not a random roll every 10 levels, the rolls were already done at spawn.

It's also why grabbing a 40/50+ doesn't hinder you because they would have had the same exact traits anyway had you leveled them from 1.
Good thing honestly, because if the meta was saving a thrall just before each breakpoint and endlessly killing it hoping it would relevel to a trait you want, that would be terrible

A simple QOL change would be you can see all the traits a tribesmen will have but they are disabled until the proper level, so you can make a decision ahead of time if it's worth investing in leveling the tribesmen or not. At least on standard server rates, leveling tribesmen is a mult-day ordeal and not exactly an exciting thing. They also really need to take a look at how dimishing return XP works on crafting, especially armor/weapon.

YOu always have the same masteries and perks. It never changes. Its a roll when the NPC spawns. You can find this by using the ingame console to see the "seed". It came from the Discord. A few people said it and it spread like wildfire.

It's coming from a comment made back when the game released to EA, and someone picks up on it and it becomes a shared bit of knowledge that isn't true because of it.

I had this happen aswell. Saved my combat guy at low level and didnt know i needed to update the info in remodel when he levels. At somepoint he was max level and died. Revived him as a level 15 and and when i leveld him up again his passives changed. May be an older version, happended about 2 weeks ago

do the tribesmen get new perks only if i play them manually or do they also get them when leveling passively while doing jobs in the base?

Ah, thats a bummer, good thing I didn't do it already. While we are on this topic, is there a mask I can use to see what the perks are, before I "persuade" the tribesman to be part of my tribe?

I am kinda new to the game and I am just wondering about one thing. Do all tribesman level up to 60 or do they stop at 50? I am confused.

Do you have any idea whay on local launched game (PC to PC) we (both players) can open the admin panel, but it doesn't work? Nor any of commands like "gm addexp 1000", "gs showinfo 1"?
