NYSSMA SOLO I had a student named Lia One day she wanted to know how you compose music. I told her I could not tell her how but I could show her. So I gave her a musical whiteboard with a pen and she wrote down everything that I started making up. When her father came to pick her up, she said, "Dad, look what I wrote today." She was, of course, joking but was correct. She wrote it. I had composed it. It turned out to be a rather pleasant intermediate solo. So I published it.
