Canon M50 Discontinued :(

Canon officially discontinued the M-series line of mirrorless cameras, like the M50, M50 mk 2, and the M6 mk2. Let's talk about it and some M50 alternatives like the one I'm using now.

Own the R50 but continue to use the m50ii because of the lens selection: Sigma 16 & 56mm, and the EFM 22 & 32mm.

I will certainly continue using my Canon M50 Mk II. And I see no need for using anything else in the foreseeable future. It sits on a tripod behind my desk and is only used for making talking head videos. And yes, I also purchased the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens you recommended. 👍🏻👍🏻😎👍🏻👍🏻

I've had the R10 almost since it was released. Great little camera and I believe it is under-rated and over looked.

I feel your pain. Yes, the Sigma sweet 16 lens is terrific. I have 3 M50 mk 2 in my studio: one straight-on, another straight down, a third on table for close views. Been thinking of the same that you chose. Hoping for Sigma to make RF updates of our favorite lenses.

I recently traded my Canon M6 II and accompanying lenses for a used 90D (with warranty). I suppose I could have squeezed another couple of years out of the M6 but I wanted to sell it while it still had some value on the used market. I miss the compact form factor of the EF-M system but the 90D has similar specs with far better battery life, a headphone jack and it is native to my collection of EF lenses. And if one uses live view, the DSLR 90D practically doubles as a mirrorless system.

Unfortunately it wasn't ever going to take off, Canon never invested that much in to the system to start with, great idea but could never make it a full frame option like the old EF/ EF-S series once Nikon redesigned and built the Z series, Canon had to respond and that left the M series for dead in place of the R series year ago...

Can open battery door while on tripod - ugh this problem is still haunting me from when i had an Canon SL1. Great camera overall though.

I'm using the Canon RF 24mm f1.8 lens with the R10. It's pretty good.

M50 is way better because it's super small really like Mobile camera which i value a lot when i go on bicycle I don't want to drag heavy expensive lenses and this camera is simply perfect also I hate cannon for canceling sigma lenses for RF mount for some stupid PR reasons like they want it to be good so other companies can't produce 3rd party lenses so nah... i won't be even considering changing m50 into new RF/R mounts... will rather buy used m50 body again if something happens to it... pro tip I use battery-plug to dc so I dont' have to change it when on tripod also cage helps with easy tripod pop-in/out and door switch
