I LEFT ONE LITTLE SUITCASE IN BERLIN
[Teaser]
"Ich hab noch einen Koffer in Berlin" is a German evergreen made tremendously famous by the likes of Marlene Dietrich or Hildegard Knef. Everyone who ever had to leave this amazing city behind will understand the sentiment behind the song. I was bewildered I couldn't spot an English version of it, even though the song was written over half a century ago. So I decided to translate the piece and record my own version of this timeless anthem, which now gloriously got approved by the rights holders. I cannot deny that this fills me with a bit of pride and a bucket full of joy.
"I Left One Little Suitcase in Berlin" is a production of the The Snoopy Lads team aka Sebastian Pagel & Hendryk Ekdahl. The instrumental track is arranged as in the original recording with Hildegard Knef.

LYRICS
Paris is so beautiful
On the Rue Madeleine
Rome is just the place to be
In the month of May
Vienna on a summer’s night
Have you ever been
Yet I recall the best of times
Back then in old Berlin

I left one little suitcase in Berlin
I keep it there for when I ever dream
Of joys gone by then I’ll always find them
In that dear suitcase safely guarded in Berlin

I left one little suitcase in Berlin
I leave it there if eerie it may seem
For when my longing, nostalgic longing, `n
Desires haunt me I feel welcome to return

Tiergarten 'round Siegessäule
In the park we'd chill
Badeschiff on River Spree
Enjoyed the sun until
Bars invited everyone
To make the night a day
Gee how wicked was Berlin
It feels like yesterday

I left one little suitcase in Berlin
I keep it there for when I ever dream
Of joys gone by then I’ll always find them
In that dear suitcase safely guarded in Berlin

I left one little suitcase in Berlin
I leave it there if eerie it may seem
For when my longing, nostalgic longing, `n
Desires haunt me I feel welcome to return
