Call me old fashioned, but...
It is a far better idea to trim back the trees before they come down on power lines than to cut them back after a storm and resulting massive power outage.
So let's have a thorough tree clearing from power lines from here on, and starting very soon! That way there will be a whole lot less power outages.

This all could have been largely prevented by managing the overgrown trees?

Is this happening in Canada? 😮. Such bad weather happens in the South. Global Warming is not a hoax anymore and those who doubt it must open their eyes and appreciate the Carbon Tax.
