Beware of the new AP Physics changes

A lot of AP classes are getting big changes to the course and exam structure this year, and years to follow. But an important bunch of AP classes to look at are the AP Physics classes. These classes are known to be some of the hardest ones out there. But with these new changes, they could potentially become much easier for many students.

Geez, took AP physics C mechanics before the changes and I can say that it is definitely more easier now. SO much more extra time to do the questions.

Hey! Self-studying both AP Physics C's this year! So I was wondering, do you reckon there is any chance this ruins the "curve" (not really a curve since it's predetermined but like you get what I mean)? like because if it's easier (since there's A LOT more time per question), the college students who took the exam this summer (to get the score cutoffs) will score better so then likely it'll be harder to get a 5?

Basically what I'm asking is how likely is it that it becomes like AP Chem where it's 70-75%ish for a 5 rather than 55%ish like it used to be for the Physics C's? because if so that would really suck lol i'd much rather make more mistakes due to time pressure (which i work well under) with a more forgiving curve than it be like ap chem where I still managed but like more time so it's expected i'm more accurate

Im scared for AP Physics 2. tbh ive never considered myself a math person but on really enjoyed honors physics last year so thats why Im taking AP Physics 2 this coming year.

very unfortunate how once i’ve taken ap physics 1 they give you a bunch more time but at least i get way more time for physics C🤞

Every year after I take the class it gets made significantly easier. Class of 2025 onward doesn’t realize how easy they’ve had some of these AP exams.

The AP Physics 2023-24 test last year was already easy, so this huge time boost will definitely help students taking the test. If you were worried about whether or not to take the course because of what people who already took it have said, just take the class.

Good thing I took ap physics 2 before this change. I can't even imagine doing the new units that cover additional things such as new waves and quantum concepts. (nooo, I'm definitely not doing the blackbody)

I believe we are expecting less by providing formulas. When I had high school physics, we were required to know all this without a cheat sheet. Come on, it’s not difficult to remember these formulas if the student has a strong grasp of the concepts and how to apply them.

im thinking the questions are going to be much harder for physics c… i was thinking of taking it because of the curve. I got 4 in calc ab and phys 1 last year. Now im not so sure if i can get a 5 in physics c with these changes. The questions must be significantly harder if the time given is almost double for just five extra questions….. same with frq. Should I still take c? or do 1 again?

overall how do you feel about physics c: mechanics? I need to know if it is a manageable junior year class for science but the more i hear, the more i worry.
