I tried this with my memoir 44' box and I'm very happy with the result. Thanks for the great tutorial!

Due to your wonderful video series, 3x A1 sheets of foam core have been purchased. Time to build up my Descent 2 inserts using your guide and building an insert for my Earth Reborn game pieces.

After seeing the fantastic results of some of the inserts, you've inspired me to give this a try :) Thanks for the great videos and blueprints :)

Thank you SOO much!! Just completed my first project after watching these videos, a 2 tier storage system for Elder Sign. A few things I learned and want to share:
1. Don't buy an x-acto knife, use the box cutters like he suggests (I have a OLFA la-x), it worked better than the $5 'titanium' x-acto I bought.
2. If your push pins are too long, insert them at an angle. \ /
3. If people are going to be pulling up on a piece (to get it out of the box), put extra pins in it!
4. Pins are cheap, leave them in, save your fingernails, and less chance it will fall apart.
5. Learn (and save) your mistakes. An early crooked cut later because a nice place to store a round part (the clock) after purposively duplicating the mistake.

I tried this afternoon and for my first box it looks like very good. I'm really proud of myself, thanks Grand Master of Esoteric Order for your tutorials, they're easy and it's a real pleasure to see your boxes organised =D

Nice I already knew how to use foamcore but this is an excellent presentation series.

Your videos were a huge help with designing a foamcore inserts for various games of mine. I did a lot of the steps you took for the cutting and measuring but I didn't think of using pins to hold pieces together for gluing.  I just used the half inch wide black duct tape to hold everything together.

On the other hand however, I don't actually use the foam core as my insert.  I use them to design the insert which then if I'm happy with the results, I make CAD reproductions and print off on a MakerBot.

Either way, sharing this video series with everyone I know who plays board games.  Thank you for your great work!

AWESOME tutorial series. I used your tutorial for most of me learning and I've built two organizers! I'm still learning, but I'm very happy with how they came out. Thank you SO much

FOR BEGINNERS:
- KNIFE: I started with a knife like the one shown, but was having some trouble and found a true box cutter to get me cleaner cuts. I think this is just because I'm less experienced cutting and a sharper, more intense blade worked better
- GLUE: I used Aleene's Tacky Glue (easily found in US craft stores)
- PENCIL: As a beginner, I found it easier to mark my measurements using a mechanical pencil. As I get more accustomed to building these, I'm sure I can just use the knife marks like the tutorial... but the pencil marks worked better for me as a beginner (who often needed to measure twice!)

Thanks for this video! Picked up some stuff yesterday and made my first one today. I would call it a (minor) success. Didn't lose any bodyparts due to cutting either; so that would a major succes then ^^

Sidebar: one slight disadvantage of using large sheets is that minor angle/cutting errors tend to cascade into larger errors over time (where "time" = "more bits cut off of the sheet"). i prefer smaller (A3 or A4) sheets because it have to make fewer cuts myself, which leaves less room for "cascading" errors when a cutting angle is off by a millimeter or so. For those who can reliably cut 100% straight 100% of the time, this obviously isn't an issue, but i am not such a person :/.

Hello everyone. I've never tried this and am curious how your box inserts have HELD UP OVER THE YEARS. Has anyone had to reglue the smaller pieces over time?
I was surprised to see all-purpose white glue was used--I just assumed something "next level" would be needed.

Moore Wilson's art supplies have it :)

Black 5mm foamcore. I buy it from art supply shops and I have no idea if it even has a brand name.

Hmm, not sure how you're doing this. As you can see, I measure from the square corner of the sheet, marking 2 notches at the same distance and then cutting between them. If you do make an error and the piece is too large, you can always shave off bits to make it fit. But if you measure carefully it should be square.

I'm hoping to make a Gloomhaven and Mageknight insert so these videos are just awesome. Not a fan of spending as much for an insert as I did for the game!

Hey there. I know this is going to seem like a very basic question (it is) but how do you make right angles? I have tried and tried and my squares are rarely square. They're always just un-square enough that they get wedged in the game box. :-/

This was great and an excellent project for my boys and I. What thickness of foam board are you using? Looks like 5mm. Would that be correct? Cheers.

I tried this last night to make a bos and it was a total disaster! Everytime I cut it, the side I cit is not straight.. it is sort of on a angle. Not the line I cut but the edge, the thickness is on an angle.
