Funfact: A client of mine of a few year ago was a freelance graphics' person - he did the titles, and dressed the set for Robin's Nest, too. Some of the plates he produced survived on, in his collections.

Prospects was absolutely superb.

Went over to ITV as repeated from channel 4.

Only made one series which was a real shame as was like a mix of Minder and Only Fools and Horses.

Watched the entire series recently on YouTube.

Comes highly recommended.

You can see in the In Sickness and In Health clip the genuine sadness of Warren Mitchell over the death of Dandy Nicholls herself.

Prospects was a real gem! Similar to Minder but with two Terries, one being slightly brighter than the other and no Arthur!

The highlight of my 30 year career working for HMRC was doing Bernard Cribbens tax return.

Thanks for shining a light on shows I never knew a thing about!

The Red Dwarf theme is still very good 35 years later.

Robin's Nest has the most funkilicious theme tune of any sitcom ever... and it was written and performed by Richard O'Sullivan himself!

Another one that’s more comedy drama I suppose but there’s Shine on Harvey Moon by the creators of Birds of a Feather, Laurence Marks and Marcus Gran and featuring Linda Robson and Pauline Quirke. Mainly 80s with a brief reboot in the 90s.

"It sticks out half a mile" is oft repeated on Radio 4 Extra. Private Pike and ARP Hodges team up to renovate the Frambourne-on-Sea pier. I believe it was originally intended to star Arthur Lowe but he died (hence Ian Lavinder being paired with Bill Pertwee). John Mesurier was in it but the show was cut short when he died.

It seems to me whatever Richard Wilson appeared in, his performance was basically the same.

I'm really enjoying this trip down memory lane....
It got me thinking about the shows I liked to watch... Not all were comedies, of course.
When television kicked off, here in Australia, most of the shows were either of British or American origin.
Initially, nearly all the British shows were shown on our national channel, the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation).
Over the years we got to view likes of -
The Army Game (1957) - No Hiding Place (1959) - Hugh & I (1962) - Dr. Finlay's Casebook (1962) - Moonstrike (1963) - The Human Jungle (1963) - Softly, Softly (1966) - Please Sir! (1968) - Curry & Chips (1969) - The Goodies (1970) - The Onedin Line (1971) - Mind Your Language (1977) - Danger UXB (1979) - Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (1980) - The Bill (1983), just name a very few.
For me, the standout of this group was The Human Jungle. It starred Herbet Lom as a psychiatrist, Dr. Corder.
My second choice would be Dr. Finlay's Casebook. It starred, Bill Simpson as Dr. Alan Finlay, Andrew Cruickshank as Dr. Angus Cameron and Barbara Mullen as Janet MacPherson.
As far a comedy goes - watching The Goodies was a staple for me.
Ironically, today, I rarely watch TV.
Cheers

Red Dwarf is still going. After a long running dispute between the two creators, Red Dwarf will be back in various forms from books and games and the possibility of a new series (or at least an odd or few specials).

Red Dwarf had some legal issues recently cleared up and should be back on TV soon.

Red Dwarf was on hold after the 2020 special due to rights issues between Doug Naylor and Rob Grant. Its now sorted and it looks like both of them are doing seperate Red Dwarf projects

Prospects had a fab music score from Mungo Jerry and the cast was superb. This show is much loved due to the excellent stories over 12 episodes. This was a hit as it was repeated on ITV in 1987 as it was shown in 1986 on Channel 4. Sadly they didn't progress with the series which was a great shame.
