Property taxes are by their very nature regressive, and tax the poor more than the rich (as a percentage of income). Additionally it is labour intensive, complicated, and inefficient. It especially is hard on those with fixed incomes. Retired people, and the unemployed.

We need to shift to an income based civic tax. Even a consumption tax would be better than property tax. I should be taxed more when I am more capable of paying taxes, and taxed less when I am less capable. This is how taxation works on all other levels of government.
