Embarrassing Fake Youtube Views Exposed

"The video service deleted more than 2 billion fake video views in the channels of Universal, Sony, and RCA, according to Daily Dot. The decision apparently was made when YouTube found out that the companies were using view building services hired from sites such as Fiverr to create video views that never existed.

Sony/BMG's was hit the hardest with views dropping from a total of more than 850 million to just 2.3 million. RCA declined by 159 million views to a total of 120 million. Universal lost more than 1 billion views and now stands below 6 billion."*

Youtube recently cracked down on its policy of not allowing fake views...leaving some high profile accounts with heavily deflated view counts. Cenk Uygur And John Iadarola break it down.

They are also shutting down the youtubers who are coursing copyright infringement which all this will clean youtube but they also have to watch that they don't hurt innocent youtubers especially newbies like myself. I'm a video creator which all content is 100% mine yet constantly I get videos shut down from monetization and I have to proof constantly that the content is mine. It is very frustrating.

the likes and dislikes are updated immediately by youtube while views are updated every few hours. that's the reason that new videos on youtube have more likes and dislikes than views.

The scariest part is how none of the VEVO channels were affected. I'm convinced this is because Google shares the ad revenue from VEVO videos and not from the other music channels.

A great thing about online ads, is that people are already on the computer so they can check out whatever you're advertising right away if they're interested. If you have a billboard or something people already forgot about it by the time they get home.

The reason youtube stops for a while after 300 views is because they double check everything beyond that and update it in intervals.

The biggest brain fart of the copyright industry is, that they're loosing money because of free access to information. The fact that I'll watch a movie without buying it doesnt make a loss. No product has to be produced for me. Most of the movies I've seen for free have never been candidates to be part of my DVD-collection. The fact that I've seen them doesnt make the producer suffer. Its a win-win-situation. I haven't lost money, they haven't lost a customer.

It didn't, but an employee or volunteer did. The important thing to remember there is that regardless of where the program came from, Google still accepted it as a function of Chrome and allows its use during YouTube videos. They "created" it by offering it to users.
