an npc in the game mentions this island is where he gets his chu jelly from

Interesting…..it either implies Chu Chu’s were always a species living in the world of Zelda (not created by Ganondorf) or that Chu Chu’s are an invasive species in more ways than just attacking the populace, but taking over like how a rat nest.

I once accidentally positioned my camera in a place where I could see that blue ChuChu on that statue, before he spawned. He’s still there he’s just really, really tiny.

I remember those sacs on the ceiling as a kid. I thought they were either centuries of built up goo from them walking on the ceiling all the time, or centuries of built up dead chuchu bodies.

This is one of the reasons why I loved the Windwaker
Each individual island has some sort of history to them as all these uses to be mountains
And finding out lore about them is fun

I always thought it was some sort nest, it adds a lot to make the world feel more real in an already emersive game

Just one of many oddities in the series

These are the areas that stick with me the most from Wind Waker because of how mysterious they are. Added with the music that screams mystery and I'm feeling something I can't even describe

I saw this island as a reference to Link's Awakening and the Wind Fish's egg as a kid.

The "egg" is the top of a giant underground chuchu statue.

Zeltic: "a small, uninhabited island."
The ChuChus teeming in the caverns and the rare, blue ChuChu: "Are we a joke to you?"

If you're new here, give Zeltik a subscribe he's basically the David Attenborough of Zelda and never misses. 👌

Love these short formats of covering small topics and Zelda easter eggs or secrets

Personal headcanon: chuchus were once very smart creatures that traveled through the stars and oneday landed on earth where they mercilessly harassed a man without arms and legs but had hands and feet and almost took over the earth until they got stupid and just exist on earth as a non-threatening menace

Rather than it being like egg sacs hanging from the ceiling I feel like the intention is probably for them to be something more like unrefined Chu jelly and that once it builds up enough to finally drop from the ceiling it forms a Chuchu.

Seeing this clip of WW just makes me think about how much WW was a precursor to BotW/TotK.

I believe this is where all the chu chu variants can be found as well. Save for the yellow ones but they might not be natually occuring since they only appear in the tower of the gods.

OR!….. it’s a migratory chu-chu breeding ground.

Not sure if this is relevant but:

This island was featured in the old zelda collection for gamecube. Before this game released there was a 20min demo with 3 places to check out. This island was one of them.

Maybe these unique objects and visuals are from this demo or older builds.
