I completely agree, and I believe many in the community do as well. We have no problem with the developers making money through cosmetics, and we fully support that. However, as you mentioned, the issue lies in how they are implementing it. I hope it's alright to share this—I just uploaded a video about an hour ago specifically discussing a proposal that could be applied to future gacha events! @H.O.D, if you have a moment, it's a short video, and I'd appreciate it if you could give it a listen. If you agree, please share the proposal with your audience in your own video. The only way we can enact change is by speaking up, and that means the community has to work together. My proposal respects the developers' ability to still earn revenue while making a slight change that allows everyone to participate in current and future gacha-style events.

Yeah, I spent 100 thinking I would get the bike skin but didn't get anything I would consider worth 100$. That's the last time I'll give the game anything.

I completely agree here. I love skins and cosmetics in games and honestly have no problem what so ever. I would be willing to pay stupid amounts of money for skins if I want to. I just don't like the whole gambling part of it. Me personally I don't gamble often at all because I admit I have a gambling addiction. This type of system is only in play to feed on people like me who struggle with gambling aspects. Just give us the option to buy the skins straight up.

So there's al lot of confusion. from people who didn't watch the vid. Skin economy is great it support the devs. Thats not the problem. Its how they are now doing it. With GAMBLING. Gambling is the problem i think we can all agree gambling is bad. The system of a one off payment for what you want is much better. would you rather pay $500 for skins you don't want or $200 for what you do want? I won't pay anything for gambling but payed $150 + for the old skins system.

I spent 2.830.000 IDR or 270 AUD to get this skin. You are right, gambling should not be exist in once human. I rather with something like they offer me with pay and do progression to get the skin, or just the normal way where i can buy one set.

I can comfirm that this is the case. Due I did all the steps to see how bad it got. So what you end up with at start is all the crap you dont want up 50 dollar. Then you might see purple items of skins, then we talk about backpacks and light source 100 dollar, you start to see the weapons. 200 dollar you start to see the skull skin. then you are going into dead multies. To me, I did not get the motorcycle skin before i hit 300 dollar. You will never get discount lucky either. Belive me. its like here is a box that is bottom tier. scavange trough that. then you start on the next box of tier. Worst part is, that i have seen other content creators open this boxes and gotten each item in the same way as i did, and how I explained on the top side. One did singles, he was 100 dollar less then me. But that is prolly the best senario you can hope for

I said this immediately when it was announced this is the most absolute predatorial scam that I have ever seen a developer try and do especially when next song just got caught doing the exact same thing to their player base of MapleStory. It's absolutely disgusting and they need to be backhanded across the face for even thinking that it's a legitimate play to treat you playerbase and customers like this. The fact that so many of you in the comment section are defending this is absolute stupidity I can only assume that you were never taught morals and you're just as bad as these Developers

Started playing the game...liked the game...bought season pass and few add-ons I liked to support them with intent of buying more season passes as well as other things I might like. Well that stopped when I saw the odds of this shit. I took my 250 and went to the casino where the odds are better and walked out with a belly full of beer a all out can eat meal 5hours of wasted time and still have 567 left. Will still play but will no longer be buying anything till they fix this shit.

Of all the games I've seen take the pay-for-skins route, I by far find RUST to be my favorite. Especially the ability to buy/sell old ones in case you find a set you really like. It makes it so that, while there's always a new set available, most of them are not lost forever to newcomers. It also makes it so you can find one you like better later on, and perhaps sell the old one or trade it for the new one. This lets you choose a specific style and pay for it directly, either to the developer or to someone who no longer wants that skin.

Yes, they do have crates to get random skins from... but they don't sell them. You can make said crates/bags by scrapping old skins you don't want, rather than selling them. Get rid of a few old ones you don't like, and roll the dice for a higher-value or better-looking new one, with a net cost of zero real money. If you choose to buy the crates/bags from another person, you can do that as well, but... you don't have to. It's not P2W/gambling based, since there is a way to get the stuff outright. There is nothing you can get from the aforementioned crates/bags that you can't also buy off the marketplace. And technically... they were all available once on the in-game market.

I really wish more games would implement a similar system.

Edit: for reference, my "random" crate loot was actually crafted using the free skins everybody gets at starter playtime hours. Stuff like a different colored shirt or picture frame/wooden sign. Things I'll never use. I got a nice knight armor mask as a replacement. Sold it to buy some I really wanted. (For $11, but the stuff I wanted was cheap, so...) Oh, and the bags/crates/etc. are all also separated/set up so you know if it's a weapon skin, item skin, or armor skin you're rolling for. This is also a mechanic I REALLY like.

I remember playing a Korean mobile game that also had a Gacha system, but allowed users to either pay with real money or a special in-game currency. At least with the in-game currency, it can be obtained through special events for that special cosmetic or themed objects. I hope in the future, Once Human can also allow their players to grind for this special in-game currency through tasks, puzzles, quests, and events or allow us to directly purchase the cosmetics/blueprints like they already do in the shop.

Its a f2p game, nobody is forcing anyone to do anything, do the math. The expected pull rate of everything is 200+ pulls so you will have to do 150 spins to get everything pretty much always. Dont blame the devs for people not thinking twice.

I did the $15. Got nothing but trash. I am not even gonna try for the bike. Its the only thing i wanted. Gambling for the 1 item you want is bull shit.

Gambling mechanics in games that can be played by children should be globally banned. Not only that, in essence it constitutes what most would call illegal gambling. Game platforms like Steam should ban this in their ToS. That said, it seems that the companies involved will simply use whichever legal loopholes exist in order to maximise their gains regardless of any ethical concerns.

That said, is this a developer or publisher problem, a gaming industry problem or a problem with the capitalistic that we live in?

I get why you don’t like this but I don’t think that this will change things. Why not contact or write a letter to your local elected official or representative and ask them to develop laws which prevent these situations from happening ever again.

Me with the AK and Psychedelic set in under 30 rolls :eyes:
Was whincing on the second purchase like 'shit man they got me' but got em both nearly back to back in that batch
Actual spoonfed dog

I think this is more just the chinese culture of skins, not sure could be wrong. But you're absolutely right that they've done the free model really when. But when i did the maffs on this after pulling my items) probably should have before loool) i was gobsmacked by how much money you could spend going for one and getting a random

No, there is NO EXCUSE to charge LARGE amounts of money for IN-GAME GAMBLING... Whether it's free or not does NOT fucking matter... People keep acting like this is something that is 'okay' because the game is 'free'... IT'S NOT FREE IF YOU'RE PAYING FOR ANYTHING AT ALL IN-GAME!!!! They release it free because they KNOW people will pay MORE over skins in-game vs straight out buying a game... But for THOSE PRICES, yeah I'm done, NO COMPANY is getting my money or time if they're going to do THIS kind of shit... This is predatory and exploitative... And I CANNOT support a company that WILLINGLY does this when they DO NOT have to...

Also, NO IT IS NOT STANDARD, NEVER LET IT GET TO BE STANDARD, IT WILL DESTROY ALL GAMING FOREVER and it's been proven TIME AND TIME AGAIN that THIS EXACT BULLSHIT WILL and DOES kill the game...
