While speaking at an event in Washington D.C. titled "Fighting Antisemitism in America," Donald Trump questioned his support from Jewish voters and said they would have 'a lot to do' with it if he lost in November. During the same event, Trump said he would reinstitute a travel ban to stop migration from 'infested countries'. Panelists Lauren Leader and Molly Jong-Fast discuss.

I get tired of making it sound like, oh well that is what Trump does. It gives him a pass and I am tired of hearing it. He is a freaking liar, call him out.

In Portugal we had a Fascist Dictatorship until 1974, when a military coup supported by the People was necessary for us to live in democracy. Unfortunately, many Americans don't know what it's like to live in a dictatorship, if they did, they wouldn't want Trump to have even a small chance of becoming President! We are truly amazed that the race is still close... and it only takes ONE DAY to put a dictator in power... and DECADES for the people to free themselves from a dictatorial regime (it took us 41 years!).

Totalitarianism in Europe began with fascism, in Italy, in the 1920s with Mussolini, then in Germany, with Nazism, in 1933. Also during the 1930s, in Portugal with Salazar and in Spain, with Franco, all of these with far-right ideals.

These Dictatorships had in common:
THE CULT OF THE LIDER- as the "savior" of the People;
ONE PARTY - that of the dictator;
CENSORSHIP: there could be no circulation of any type of newspaper or media product criticizing, denouncing or supporting a political opposition;
FEAR - a strategy to frighten his opponents and the enemies of the State;
CREATION OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ENEMIES: distraction or an allegation to explain authoritarian acts;
EXARCERBATED NATIONALISM: in totalitarianism, nationalism took hold in an extremist form, spreading exclusion and persecution against other peoples or ethnicities;
and then MILITARIZATION: using military force in an accentuated way to "protect the People".
