If Sam would diversify his vocal delivery and melody then my listening experience would’ve been a lot better. Every chorus blends with each other on every track and it gets grating after the the first couple of songs.

It’s sad when you know what these guys are capable of and they go and put this out

I don't want to trash the band or anything (I appreciate every artist and think they should express their creativity in the way they find fitting), but given how popular/mainstream they are, I though the underwhelming impression I got after listening their singles had to be just due to my "inability" to "understand" the direction the modern metal is heading.. Now I'm glad is wasn't just me :)

I’ve been a fan of this band since Lost Forever / Lost Together. I appreciated the last album even though it was different, but I can’t stand by this one. It was a pain to get through, I found myself struggling with every single song, with the exception of “Burn Down My House”, the only song I could vibe with. Each song can’t tell what they wanted to be, and they feel longer than they actually are. I’m severely underwhelmed with this album, which is a damn shame because LF/LT, AOGHAU, Holy Hell and even FTTWTE were a great 4 hit combo in my opinion. This was a massive disappointment through and through. I was contemplating buying a physical copy of this album but after listening, I can’t spend money on this shit. Just a shit show all the way through.

Agree with pretty much everything. It feels like they said “bmth did it so we can too”

To me the last great album from Architects is Holy Hell, with how they turned a painful tragedy into a heartbreaking and powerful album.

After this my opinion of their albums ranges to forgettable. This album is proof though that they are starting to get weaker.

I do think ending at Holy Hell would have been a great decision honestly.

I liked older Architects but after Holy Hell this band fell off hard. This album and the last album were such a chore to get through.

What album would one recommend to get into Architects for the first time? I know their music kinda, but never listened to an album. Been a fan of Josh Middleton tho since WAY back in Sylosis days- 2008. I gravitate towards the heavier side of things, but get down with melody too.

How are you gonna have titles like “Born Again Pessimist” and “A New Moral Low Ground” and not have them be heavy as hell?

Weird what popularity and promise of money do to creativity. Capitalism and good art are oil and water.

Never listened to a song from this band, and "Imagine Dragons core" definitely didn't sell me on them lol.

Yay, glad to find someone else who isn't just mild on this record but actually dislikes it. I'm a fan of Architects, been for quite awhile, like-to-love all of their albums outside of the previous one, but it had its moments, I didn't thought it was as bad as some people said it was, it just wasn't really Architects to me. I'd be fine if after Holy Hell they just stopped as Architects, that was a good note to end on and tribute their friend and guitarist Tom Searl. But this new album? A New Moral Low Ground aside- I think it awful. Bland stock radiocore with nothing-to-bad writing, overblown production, buttrock riffs, Sam sounds like anyone else in the scene and...look, I know how it looks when a fan of the band says "they don't sound like themselves anymore", I'm not saying that I just wanted them to replicate LF//LT until the end of time, I'm fine with them doing new things. The problem is, things they doing just don't work. 2-3/10. All IMO of course.

Exactly right. That album is just an arena rock/butt rock snooze fiesta. Shame when bands go full boring. The meta of alt. metal influences is so boring to me. Good review.

Let me guess on Architects next album. They completely turned into pop rock with influences from Maroon 5.

I understand your opinion and although I disagree with it. You were honest on how you felt on this album.

Guilty pleasure ? I like it…
I did cry about them not being aggressive anymore, but I can listen to this album when wanting to hear something more pop, since I hate actual pop…
And if I do feel the need, the new Lorna shore is out !
Of course, hollow crown, lost forever, holly hell are my favourites and really hard to top them !

I kind of enjoy listening to the album but it is true I can't be bothered to give it an active listen. Everytime I tried, I got bored. It's fine as background music while I am doing something because it somehow flows nicely and doesn't command attention. However I am not actually sure whether it is a good or bad thing. 🤷‍♂

Cant wait for the architect fanboys to discover this

They have talented people in the band. Josh Middleton joining the band should've made them better but somehow they got worse wasting his talent. At least we still have SYLOSIS
