Could be played in the middle of a techno set in 2018 - the crowd would go nuts. Way ahead of its time.

IN 1983 when this song was released it started as something played in underground gay clubs and nobody had ever heard of this band or heard anything like it. A friend of mine sent a bootleg cassette via the post to me from another city 800 km away. This was the opening song on that tape, and I could not fathom how music could be so fresh, new and from the future.This song heralded a new age in music and a complete departure from every genre it preceded. Which of course it did. Soon it turned into the new wave movement of the mid to late eighties. This very song changed my relationship to music, fashion and the world out there at the time. During the darkest days of the cold war, you finally had music to match. A world re-imagined as an industrial dystopia.

Its now decades later that dystopia never quite took shape once the fear of nuclear war went mainstream with Nina's 99 Red Baloons . Suddenly and unexpectedly in late 1989 the Berlin wall fell, and communism came tumbling down with it. Soon enough the world had a chance to be shaped as a new utopia. But as I listen to this today I am reminded how this is still from the future - even though its almost 40 years since its release.

I love the fact it's called Get The Balance Right and the mix of all those thick fat or fizzy analog sounds is a feat in itself.

I've always loved the original version of this song, and I usually don't like remixes, but this is easily better.

First heard this version of the song at an undergound club called 9 Of Hearts in Cleveland Ohio and the only light was a bright flashing strobelight that made everyone look like they're danicing in slow motion. Great memories.
