I've been studying coffee and type 1 for about 30 years. What I've found is 1 cup with heavy cream, is worth the increase of about 50 points. I hope to continue my study for another 30.

For me a good alternative to drip coffee is espresso. It's a popular misconception that espresso has more caffeine, when in fact the opposite is true. It has less caffeine than a cup of drip coffee, yet it gives me the condensed taste of coffee that I'm looking for....it's a win/win.

Grateful I've been a black coffee drinker long before I became a T1! Doesn't seem to bother my glucose levels - but I only drink 2 to 3 small cups a day.
Great, informative video!!

Very interesting how coffee will affect people differently. I'll have 1 or 2 cups of organic freshly ground coffee every morning usually with a little half and half or heavy cream with no increase in blood sugar. I like the extra fats and protein in my coffee because I'm on a Keto diet and it helps.

When I have coffee my blood sugar spikes VERY high right away. I have been just getting a shot of espresso and just taking very small sips...it works. You get the coffee taste but not the spike.

Becky here - best coffee for me is home made cold brew (bought a bottle system from Aldi), organic unsweetened almond milk and organic stevia (Walmart brand) to make it a bit sweet. No spike in my blood sugar at all. Now my morning brewed cup is about 10 carbs…I use stevia and whole milk in that. Just all trial and error to see what works best.

Since I had started using a CGM I had noticed my sugar spiking to 200 after my morning coffee. (With 1/2 packet of sweetener and 2 teaspoons of powdered creamer). This amazed me. At this time I don’t use insulin. I did not know that caffeine can raise your glucose. I am planning to gradually decrease the additives until I drink it black to see if that solves the problem. If not I will change to decaf. Thanks for this video. It was so informative and helpful.

Something else to think about is powdered alternative sweeteners like stevia or Splenda are often mixed with dextrose or maltodextrin which can impact your blood sugar the same as regular table, sugar and Spike glucose.

Coffee with unsweetened creamer (I use Califa unsweetened almond milk or nut pods brand) and it really helps stabilize my blood sugars. I only have 12 ounces a day though. And use medium roast from sams club (members mark brand)

Have noticed that enery drinks (sugarfree) doesn't effect my bloodsugar, but tea with a small amount of milk does. Thank you for a great video!

My favorite "coffee" is iced tea! Never was a coffee drinker.

This comment has nothing to do with coffee. =) I've just finished watching several of your videos. They are so good and very informative. But I have a question please.... How do you take off the sensor and overpatch. I'm in my mid 70's and my skin is so very thin. I can't get the crazy thing off. My husband suggested I spray WD40 on a paper towel and then wet the overpatch really well. It still pulled something awful. Does anyone else have this problem or am I doing something wrong? Help ! THANK YOU.

I drink one double espresso with a little half and half no sugar or sweetener late in the day, never in the morning! Seems OK for me, type 2.

I just love the taste and flavor of coffee and it has very little to do with what else I am consuming.
