In August 2016 Chhaya Collective connected sixteen dance artists between UK and India, to collaboratively choreograph and skill-share via live streaming technology. Dancers Kay Crook and Ajeesh Balakrishnan. who set up the collective in 2013, have strong connections with dance artists in both Devon and Bengaluru.

The aim of the live stream project is to allow artists working in Europe and Asia to meet at a virtual crossroads. The idea of journeying across great distances to collaborate inspired the theme of 'Pilgrimage', the ancient act of journeying in search of moral or spiritual significance, to a destination of spiritual importance. In the UK they have a great desire for the East and in India a desire for the West, and when they meet, they can see themselves in the other - a meeting of creative minds - which holds great potential.

This video is made up of small excerpts from a week long pilot project, involving both rehearsal and performance footage.
