Bane's physique is supposed to resemble the physique of those muscle men in the circus. He's not trying to be jacked, he's supposed to look naturally huge.

One detail I just noticed, while Gordon is escaping, Bane barely acknowledges it while he's reading the confession, showing how much control he already had over Gotham's situation.

When I first saw this movie I had my doubts about Hardy as Bane but when I saw this scene and how big they make him look I was wowed.

This is pure movie magic because Tom Hardy is like 5"11 and they make him look at least 6"4 in this movie. I thought that was awesome how they did that.
