Visualize server attacks in real time! The monitoring system is cool!
動画日本語版(JapaneseVer.)
Site version(English Ver.)

The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology exhibited a server attack alert system. You can visualize how attacks are being done graphically. The appearance of the attack is displayed in 3D graphics. As the number of cases that break through the boundary defense from inside and outside the organization is increasing, it is possible to prevent leakage of company information and personal information by using this system. It seems that it is provided free of charge to educational institutions such as universities.

This is cool in so many ways. I can't even begin to imagine the processing power required to run this system.

That is the best looking security device I've ever heard of. They should make a version for physical security.

I love Ghost in the Shell and I work in Network Security. This is an *awesome* toy but don't get me wrong - I would never use something like that get real work done.
Only some managers could believe that fancy, colorful stuff can be really useful.

If it were used solely by computers, a visualization would be completely unnecessary. However, us lowly meatbag humans are extremely bad at comprehending long strings of text, which is what a non-visualized version of this might be. This tech allows the human operator to understand threats as they happen and respond more quickly. Also, it looks freakin' awesome. :P

Yes they should, it would go perfect as a screen saver.

Maybe, but if it is, it is either running on a few Cray Super-Computers or something major league powerful. Given that it is Japan it might be a proprietary system specifically designed to do what it is doing. If anything it may be a stripped down version of BSD or Unix running that program specifically. That is alot of data to compile on the fly.

Love to see this kind of visualization with multi-touch, perhaps in a few years, working on other, more open-minded datasets. Several graphs come to mind, e.g. cell metabolism or propagation of ideas (memeplexes, e.g identified by Levenstein distance or trigram distribution) in communications, epidemiology, evolution in the case of genetic distance. Open research data does not need this kind of protection. I consider that good and the technology can be beneficial anyhow.

Nice, but it's in reality not more than a visual representation of a few IPSs, which isn't really that new.
It looks amazing though, I hope we start to use interfaces like these more, they're very intuitive and look brilliant

You're right, i said that bucause they kept the Gnome window style.

By showing it in 3d it gets the info across much faster as its easier to watch one graph than 12 different ones. Example would it be easier to watch a game in the stands or in a room with a dozen TVs?

Anything like this available for download? Or commercially available?

My thoughts exactly. This is why I'm GLAD that Japanese are the leaders in robotics. Can't wait to get a cyberbrain...even if it risks my brain hardening.

Looks like this runs on some kind of Linux/BSD. The window at 1:57 seems to be Gnome with Clearlooks theme.

This looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. Where can I get it and where's the systemspecification?

I wanna have that live as my desktop background :P

Finally, responding to hack attempts will look exactly what Hollywood imagined hacking to be, that Ghost in the Shell perfected.

All we need is some Tachikoma avatars and we'll officially be in the future.

Did the same thing on a global network 6 years ago, using Network Intelligence SIEM and google earth.
