PlayStation VR2 Unboxing

The highly anticipated PlayStation VR 2 is here and we got the chance to unbox it ahead of its release. We take a look at the PSVR 2 headset, the brand new controllers, as well as a the charging dock. We also compare the new headset against the original to see how the new form factor stacks up.

The reason the PSVR2 isn't backwards compatible with the PSVR isn't the controllers. It has to do how tracking is done. Original PSVR used outside in tracking with the PlayStation camera and lights on the move, headset and dualshock 4 controller. The PSVR is inside outside tracking with the camera embedded in the headset and the new controllers ring being tracked by the head set.

Seeing those controllers on the charging dock totally sold me on the charging dock. That looks like art!

Foveated rendering is the true gamechanger for VR! We can finally get much closer to flatscreen graphics without sacrificing performance! Kayak Mirage VR is a great testament to FR as well as RE Village and HZ CotM. Vive 2 is the only other headset that has FR. It's only a matter of time when the modding community work their homebrew magic and make this PC friendly! Doubt it will need a mod chip since ps5 is x86 afterall.
Also the fact that you need a cable to connect it is not a negative it will actually eliminate all latency that comes from wireless meaning locked framerates!

Cant wait! Capcom please upgrade Resident Evil 7 for PSVR2 and also SOny needs to update Blood and Truth! Those were two of the best VR games but using old tech.

Apparently According to playstation they designed the box to also be a Storage Box after a Play Session, which is cool serves a duel purpose

I’m actually glad to hear the controllers are a bit smaller. They looked bulky in previous videos. Less chance in them bumping into each other when you’re playing

The dpad issue isn’t really a issue. The vr games utilize the psvr2’s eye tracking by making so that if you look at the item in inventory for example and press x you can select it

Seeing as Sony officially released and are supporting DualSense drivers for PC on Windows and Linux, I'm excited to see if they're going to also support drivers for SteamVR!!!

When you put the handsets on the charging station they kind of look like one controller together at those angles. That’s neat

Sony are smart as they intended the PSVR 2 box to be a storage box for the headset and controllers as they mentioned it in their official unboxing video and it’s cheaper when compared to the original as the original had to be used with a camera which costs and you also had to spend extra on the move controllers but the only thing Sony didn’t do was give us a dust cloth for wiping the lenses but I’ll use my PlayStation VR dust cloth
