I got SO MANY comments on this plant, I decided to do a species spotlight for you guys! Are there other plants you would like for me to do this for?

Crypts of all kinds have become some of my favorites. Very easy and beautiful plants, high tech high light, low tech low light, and everything in between, they seem to do great so long as their roots are fed and they're unmolested. Great video as always!

That's EXACTLY how I grow it, pot, big current. I started with one a year and a half ago, put that in a pot. Its well but not especially fast. It exploded in growth from late November when I starting adding Seachem iron to the water. It's not only grown over the year, but lately grew three more pups and now is six plants in a 4" pot and the leaves are 18" or so? I am so close to putting into a 6" pot, black plastic, no drain holes with fresh potting soils as I'm sure the old one in the pot is tapped out. Yeah, I treasure this plant. It was one of the first I ever put in the tank back in September 2018 and I tell you Rachel, its glossy leaves are really something and if I get it up to a 8" pot for the big tank, I will be one happy boy. I don't care about common..it's what I like and whats happy in the tank that matters.

Nice spotlight Rachel. I like the the potted strategy too. I have a Crypt Hudoroi sending out daughter plants. It's another Crypt with that great hammered texture.

It was among the first plants that I added to the 240 in July of 2018. It even survived a meltdown in my tank 3 months ago of all my ferns and most other plants from something I can't say for sure. It's looking good again, the Italian Val is magnificent in thick growth waving in the current. So, I go with what likes my setup. C.balansae likes sunlight..direct sun is not too much for it. A great plant.

It's so hard not to go out and get the plant discussion of the day. This plant appears to dance in water. Love it!

I love this plant, infact yesterday I bought 1 and 3 others. You have to add in there coffiola anubius. The colour and shape of the leaves are lovely. The stems are like a browny pinky colour. I also have artificial vines and artificial tropical plants mixed amongst the real plants and the scape I've created looks like a cool jungle theme. No fish in it yet as I've just bought a new external filter so I'm letting the plants and water settle for a few more weeks till I add my fish. Thanks for your information on this plant, I planted it at the front so now I'm going to move it to the back under my spray bar ❤️❤️

To say the least that I'm in Awe of your abilities to move your Crypts and M. Lace plant with no melt!! I love a lot of crypts but my fav. go to plant has got to be Anubias'. But now you got me thinking about a redue of my 20 tall
Thanks Rachel...

Kicking myself now. Several years ago, when I got into planted aquariums but didn't know enough about aquatic plants, I was looking for Needle Leaf Java fern, and other easy plants. I can see now that I purchased Crypt balansae (it wasn't labelled /couldn't be properly identified by staff) I was told it was Needle Leaf. so I tied it to driftwood, and watched the whole thing melt.

I love crypts and they apparently love me. Now there’s a great one to try. Beautiful in the current.

I just bought a balansae in August. He's only about 5" tall I'm hoping he gets like yours! I'm thinking of potting him now and rethinking which tank to put him in seeing the size he might get to!
