Started foraging recently. Just picked first mushrooms. Gonna give them to the Mrs, if she’s still here tomorrow looking forward to a few myself!

just picked a few off the back lawn and after watching your video and deciding that they were definitely OK, I sauteed them and I have to say they were "probably" the best tasting mushrooms I have ever eaten!! Thank you!!

I came for the mushroom info, but I stayed for the lovely accent and eccentric personality ✨🍄✨

Thank you from Australia. Jim Bell (Australia) We picked heaps of field mushrooms as a kid in NSW central west.

So glad I watched this, you just saved my life!
I picked a bag full of mushies this morning that I've just enjoyed for lunch, bar one, a huge mother I was so tempted to sample but was a bit wary as it was too pale underneath. The yellow stainer was very evident and the smell, not the mushroom smell you'd want to eat. Thanks heaps!

OH I LOVE MEADOW/FIELD MUSHROOMS AND HAVE NOT HAD THEM FOR YEARS!!! I'm living on the Canadian prairies, so they're not so plentiful here, as they were in the Maritimes. The best smell in the world, or fragrance, is those mushrooms cooking in butter. Nice memory of my dad showing me how to identify and pick them. I may have to move to the UK for this.
Meadow mushrooms have a strong fragrance to me, Idk if anyone else notices it, but it seems no other mushroom has that wonderful smell. They're also distinctly pink inside, ageing to brown. I should try harder to find them in Alberta, but -

Pick a few yesterday, with a lot of fairy ring champignons and a giant puffball. I made pâté with the fairy ring champignons and field mushrooms, then put cheesie breadcrumbs on a slice of puffball baked it in olive oil (not a lot of oil) until crispy . Then eat it, very nice indeed.

These are the type I picked as a kid in Australia. We would get some huge ones that were almost black underneath. 😊

I think I have a yellow stainer that grew near three mushrooms that definately fit the description you gave of agaricus campestris. The stainer suspect had a hollow stem and was a dirty white on top. Stem base stained bright gold almost as soon as it was cut. Stem is long with no bulb. All specimens smell, but I can't tell for sure what they smell like because I've never really been able to tell my sense of smell with these mushrooms. Ring was fat, came off with ease, left remains around stem.

Thanks for facilitating my sense of smell in the id. I'm actually very strong in that sense, so it's a very useful backup for me.

This is great, I've always assumed any field mushroom that have dark gills are edible but pink gills are not. I've avoided the pink gills in the past as thought they were poisonous.

Thanks again for another informative video Marlow. I know a place where they grow. so I'll pop down and see if I can get some this week.
