I am a research physicist and worked with prof. Dr Karl Boer of the university of Delaware. He build the the first Solar house in the USA. In 1974 (during the oil crisis) I worked already on solar cells. My solar cells, at that time, had a higher efficiency and were cheaper than today's solar cells, base on CdS. If we put put separated layers of these cells on top of each other: can that make a more powerful solar panel? So we can have less area used?

Make solar panels that are connected to lasers that shot onto other solar panels, then you got more energy, but i wouldn't know if the solar panels would melt from laser, somebody should try that out of they won't, meby just bullet prof glass over the solar panels or something.

So I guess if we can find another product that is as abundant or close to silicon which would be difficult we can build as many solar panels as we need, carbon would be a great option!
