If anyone finds themselves in Bismarck North Dakota, Georges Armstrong Custer's regiment was about 15 miles from town. They have his house set up, a lot of his and Libby's furniture, and paintings. Someone is always finding a cannon ball. Right below, the Mandan indians had their village with a lot of artifacts. It's really awesome to see that.

Ignoring his scouts was the first step of his and his men’s demise.

Tom Custer would have been much choice to lead the Regiment. He enlisted in the Union Army and came up through the ranks, got a battlefield commission and retained his office statice postwar. He was a skilled tactician and a brilliant leader but he idolized his big brother. Had Tom been in command, we probably wouldn't know its name because it would have been conducted much differently.

Ps. His choice of not taking gatling guns was wrong move. They may have made a considerable difference in the outcome of the Little Big Horn battle

Grouping family members in such a manner help eliminate a 'stupid' gene." Custer was last in his class at West Point. He should never have been commissioned. And certainly not promoted. But he "knew" the correct people. Sometimes it was their wives he knew.
