The most interesting part is that the first part leads the audience to believe that it's from Ashfur's point of view, and it's some kind of AU where he attacks during the fire scene. However, the ending reveals that is clearly not the case, he was still killed by the river by Hollyleaf. Which contextualizes the entire thing as being Hollyleaf just spinning a story to herself about how her killing him was self defense and she had no choice, rather than the plain murder it actually was.

The way his mouth foams when he says “lover”, his claws unsheathing when they hug, the gorgeous backgrounds, it has so many little details that make this a masterpiece! I send you my virtual applause!

i like how in this pmv, only 4 cats are shown. ashfur, squilf, brambleclaw, and hollyleaf.

this is because I’d imagine there were only 3 cats ashfur actually paid attention to, and that was squirrelflight, the girl who “broke his heart”, brambleclaw, the one who “stole her away from him”, and hollyleaf, the one who killed him. he’s so blinded by his possessiveness and rage he doesn’t even realize there are other cats around him, one’s who cared about him- he chose to focus on the very few bad things of his life and let that consume him instead of realizing how much he had. he didn’t suffer because one girl rejected him, he just made a huge deal out of it because he didn’t care for anyone else. therefore I’d like to imagine no one else is shown in this pmv because he’s so blinded by a woman rejecting him he can’t even realize there’s other cats who cared about him, such as ferncloud and cloudtail. he had no realization that his life was a good one, he just tried to make it into a bad one.

The fact he unsheathed his Claws when he was hugging SquirrelFlight to truly show how obsessive he was is absolutely amazing. And the foaming at the mouth when he said "Lover" as if he was truly heart broken and was screaming till the point he was out of breath to cause the foaming before hand. Everything about this AMV is stunning.

squilfs eyes are canonically green, I like how she has amber eyes in this since it looks like a subtle nod to how she has eyes for bramble claw, who's eyes we never see here, it also shows how much hollyleaf felt disconnected to squilf upon finding out, when squilf disowned her to save her despite how it was squilf who raised her, or maybe squilf actually has leaf pools eyes here, Holly's bio mom

i love the detail of how u only included hollyleaf among the three!! its gives the idea of ashfur reminiscing about his life in his last moments before his death, and only being able to focus on hollyleaf because she was the one who killed him. it gives an isolated feel from the world and it really fits ashfurs obsessive nature!!

THIS IS AMAZING!! I love how Ashfur hugs Squirrelflight at the beginning and unsheathes his claws to demonstrate how possessive he is, the section with the fire where he lip-syncs is so impactful as well. Absolutely wonderful work! <3

i don’t normally comment on animations anymore but i JUMPED when i saw which song this is, bc la dispute is one of my all-time favorite bands, and i never see anyone talk about them and i’m SO HAPPY that someone recognizes their music!!!! and i’m so happy their music was used for this
this is SUCH a good and fresh interpretation of ashfur’s story im losing it. the way he charges towards squirrelflight and how hollyleaf kills him mid-pounce, , , MAN it’s so good. and how in the beginning, he’s shown to be possessive and pushy, , ,
and the way you paint rocks is SO GOOD ive been staring at it for so long. i swear your style is eye candy….

I think this might be one of the best amvs I've ever seen?? The environments alone are stunning, it's so different from what we normally see in warrior cats animations and it was awesome to see something so different and atmospheric!! and the composition and storytelling is incredible as well, I'm just in awe over this!!! you did such a wonderful job!!

composition and visual storytelling has always been a strong suit of your work... you always seem to sense what is and isn't relevant to the plot of each video, and its really cool to see that present with your choice here to streamline the story by cutting out jay and lion and also that excellent hard cut from ashfur's attack at the fire to holly's killing him at the fire. tbh your animatics in the past have held up as fully-complete works in their own right because of this sixth-sense towards visual storytelling alone, so to see a fully polished work like this where you ALSO add your incredible ability to create atmosphere through colour and experiment with more painter-ly background styles into the mix was really such a treat to watch. and, as others have already said, the raw emotion that comes through in all the little details (the foam at ash's mouth, every single close-shot of their expressions) is phenomenally effective too. was very excited to see this complete and it did not disappoint – can't wait to see what's next!
