Traceability App
At FP McCann, we place a high value on customer confidence and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality control. The development of our product Traceability app is a testament to this commitment. This app plays a crucial role in ensuring that quality control is meticulously monitored and recorded at all our depots, as exemplified by its use at our Ellistown facility.
The quality control process is a sequence of meticulous checks, each of which must be completed before moving on to the next stage. Every product is unique, with its own serialised ID. The images and records from these checks are stored in a database, ensuring instant accessibility and comprehensive documentation.
Firstly, we conduct a pre-pour check. The quality controller ensures that the mold has been set up by the production paperwork and notes this on his check sheet, which is then uploaded into the Traceability App to confirm the pre-pour has been completed. The QC will then take a series of images capturing the mould before being poured. The product then cures overnight.
The following day, the product label is attached, containing the unique serialised QR code, which allows this item to be tracked throughout its journey. Further QC checks are conducted. The product is then taken to the dressing station. Here, accessories such as seals are fitted, and our trained finishers ensure the product meets our quality standards.
Next, the quality controller conducts a post-pour inspection, which is recorded and uploaded. In addition, Product Photos are taken to show the final condition of the product and uploaded into the Traceability App to confirm that the ‘Post-Pour’ is complete. The product is transacted to ‘Finished Goods’ within the App, marked with a blue quality control stamp, and is ready to be stored in our stocking area. The forklift driver will identify the QC stamp and take the product to the storage location. The Fork Truck driver will record the exact location of the product within the app, using a letter to represent the row and a number to record the precise position within that row.
Once a product is called for delivery, the Fork Truck driver is presented with an electronic version of the loading ticket. The ticket will display the required products, their exact location, and QC status. The Traceability app will not allow an incorrect product to be scanned onto the load, nor will it be any product that is not fully verified through our quality process unless it is positively verified as good to ship by a trusted Quality Controller.
When all products are successfully scanned and loaded on the trailer, there is a final check to verify that all products on the dispatch docket have been loaded and are free from loading damage. This final check is evidenced by uploading photos of the completed load from multiple angles.
