If you are starting a nonprofit, one of your first questions is probably, "how do you raise money to start a nonprofit?". You're probably wondering where the startup money should come from. In this video, I'm sharing strategies you can use to get startup money when you're first starting a nonprofit.

Hi, Tiffany. I appreciate all of your information. You're so awesome for sharing so much knowledge. I have a question about donations, are we able to receive donations of products needed for our mission? We are providing backpacks with hygiene products, snacks, water, socks, etc. as well as a tent. Can we receive these types of donations as we are in the process of incorporating the organization? Do we provide a receipt to the donor for the cost (if new) or fair market value of their donations (if they are used blankets and clothing)?

I’m very excited to apply for community grants as startup funds for our organization. As Chair, I have encouraged the board (only two other people) to list 4-5 places in their general area for potential places where we could apply. I have posted a Google spreadsheet in our drive to post on, but (other than me listing 7 places to start), they have posted nothing over the last two weeks since it was posted.

What can do I to excite them? It is disconcerting that they have not done what could take five minutes to help fundraise in order to begin programs.
