In an interview with DW at this year's Munich Security Conference, Democratic US Senator Chris Coons spoke about rising tensions between Beijing and Washington. He also spoke about US hopes about how the war in Ukraine should end. Coons said he was very worried about the recent escalation in US-China tensions, including the shooting down of an alleged Chinese surveillance balloon, and that more contact was needed between the two sides to avoid possible conflict.

My God, I thought Coons was the German prime minister at first glance.

It was reported that a US General tried calling his Chinese counterpart during the balloon thing a few weeks ago using the military hotline. The Chinese side never answered.

Coons is a good spokesperson for the US. No partisan BS.

The balloon incident was not a "crisis." Way overblown story.

I'll admit It's my first time I heard Chris speaking... He is 1 of the few that actually talks about Ukraine that let go of their nuclear arsenal. The world can simply not let a despoot like putin get away, he need to be stopped for good!

I've just added Chris to my favorite list, the world should listen to him, he is really on top of his game. 5 STARS CHRIS! We need more people like you!

Germany, which for decades relied on relatively cheap Russian pipeline gas, now has especially high energy prices compared with the US, which has its own natural gas reserves, while France has abundant nuclear power.

“The gas price is around three to five times higher than in the United States, ” he said, adding electricity was four times as expensive as in France.

American senator talking about non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and accountability for those who’ve committed war crimes… is Bush being held accountability for his actions in Iraq and Afghanistan? 🤔

If US stops putting their nose in every country's issues, the world will be in a better place.

I don't understand Tony Blinken. He planned a trip to Bejing in this environment. He would not have returned.
