2. Rats may be cheap to obtain, but are not cheap to keep. Their day to day care may be, but if you want to care for them properly, vet bills are very expensive because they are considered exotic animals and are prone to things like respiratory issues and tumors. Many people get rats thinking they’re cheap because that’s what they’re led to believe, but then are unprepared for the high vet bills.

4. Rats (if trained properly) will poop in a litter box, but they are squally urinate throughout their cage.
5. Chocolate is not toxic to rats. Milk chocolate should be avoided due to the high sugar content, but a small piece of dark chocolate can act as a bronchodilator.

7. The maintenance level of rats depends on the level of care provided.

This is very good video, although vet bills are quite a common occurrence for rats so you can't have them without any pocket money. Moreover, 2:30 isn't a rat, and it's not bathing (YOU SHOULD NOT BATHE A RAT LIKE THIS!! OR ANY OTHER ANIMALS, the chemicals are scary and harmful to them)

Chocolate isn't toxic to rats. They are one of the few animals that can safely have chocolate without it being harmful. Of course it can still be bad in large amounts so never give a lot, only small amounts as treats.

i read 'the perfect rat' and came to argue for MsNibbles the singing rat but yes... rats are great pets.

my favorite part ov waking up is putting the daily rat (the one that i take that whole day to do chores/dishes/fix food) on my shoulder and hearing the puppy chitter on my shoulder when i make them breakfast. i like to think she is saying 'oh good job with the greenbeans guy! OH OH OH CHEESE!?! we get cheese today! and bread. i like bread guy'

I’m not a rat owner but I gotta admit they have gifts too. I probably will never be a rat owner because of their short life span and I don’t think it’s worth spending a lot of money on vet bills if they’re just gonna die in the near future. You should only get rats if you plan on getting new ones after the previous ones pass away or if you really absolutely love rats or if you’re a reptile owner.
