I love my Kinect. Just for the voice recognition on my TV you can to change channels turn the volume up and down without having to find my remote is worth it.

Well it all depends on what you do on Xbox to be honest.
If all you do is play games and watch netflix then the Kinect isn't all that useful lol
but if you go on skype, or want quick ways to go around or do things then I guess its useful.
I only use it to say ''xbox record that'' or ''xbox go to [insert app name here]'' or ''xbox turn off'' and I use it for Skype because that's where the camera comes in to use so no need for a webcam lol
but for the most part its really not worth the money if you got the xbox without the kinect lol

Just kill the XB1. Its a fucking joke! I had my 360 for almost 8 years & besides it not having bluetooth its a perfect console. All they had to do was basically not change anything, make it more powerful add bluetooth & internet. They changed the whole mindset & it backfired on them. The PS4 is just a tad better i enjoy both but this generation of consoles is a disappointment so far & were almost in year 3 of the cycle

There is nothing really wrong with it. It works great, has a few minor glitches where it doesn't hear you properly but overall it is one of the more stable voice systems I have ever used. I don't regret getting one with my console and it would be tough to completely stop using it altogether at this point. So nice to walk in, say "Xbox On" and walk out of the room to do something else while it loads up without ever having to pick up the controller. Same goes for watching videos and saving the battery life on my controller.

As a game controller Kinect is pretty stupid, but it's really cool to walk into your home after a long day and say "Xbox on, " and your console boots while you get situated. Navigating menus with your hands, that's also pretty dope. In the future I think that's what TVs will have instead of remotes. Imagine voice commands with a conventional TV. "[wake up word], Netflix Top Gear, volume 20" or some shit.

I personally didn't buy a Kinect, mainly because I felt I didn't need it with my xbox one. But it's all based on personal preference of what you'll be using it for.

Phil's attitude is exactly where Microsoft went wrong with Kinect 2.0 to begin with. You can't just put a piece of hardware out there and rely on everyone else to support it. The severe lack of games makes it a failure as a gaming device. The fact that Kinect takes the place of your TV remote, but does so at a much higher cost, makes it a failure as a consumer device in general.
