Bournemouth's Dom Solanke has agreed a move to Tottenham worth a reported £65m, and that's incredible news for the club. As well as finally representing a direct replacement for Harry Kane, Adam Clery looks at the strikers ability and tells us why he's the perfect player to for Ange Postecoglu's system.

Comparing Solanke's positioning with Celtic's Kyogo is smart. Most English "analysts" haven't taken the time to look at Ange's previous teams, all of which required a front foot, finish in the box forward. Besart Berisha in Brisbane, Junior at Yokohama and Kyogo Furuhashi at Celtic. And when Ange was asked after a game about Kyogo's goals, he would instead reference the strikers pressing and off the ball runs. Solanke is soooo an Ange system forward.

Thank you for the great analysis. It's interesting when people call Ange naive when he is in the early stages of building a team to play his way. Having watched Brisbane Roar, Marinos, Celtic and the Australian national team play the most spectacular football I expect to see the same thing with Spurs once all the pieces are in place - should be a definite progression this year.

You should also mention how many big chances Son created last season, with no one there to finish them! One of the best players in the league for big chances created!

Lovely stuff. Not to be a pedant (ok, being a pedant), but a word or two on why Richarlison isn’t/wasn’t the answer vs Solanke would’ve made this just perfect. Maybe Solanke is more mobile, and better. But I want to hear it from Adam and nobody else, with lovely pretty overlaid stats on a miniature pitch

Timo Werner and his light speed ball progressions up the wings, and Son or Solanke to meet him up front/in the box... Spurs can really do some damage with Ange-ball

I can't believe Tottenham is actually building a consistent team patiently and trusting a good manager and doing smart business in the transfer window

Yet my beloved Chelsea has bought 44 players in the past 3 years!!!
Most of them are never gonna play for Chelsea ever!

The biggest thing it does is if Richie isn't fit, Solanke can play, and Son can stay at LW. If Richie is fit, then Richie has to perform or Solanke is on the pitch and will perform. So some actual competition at the 9 rather than just putting whoever can do it.
