Apple is Fixing Their Biggest Mistake

In 2016 Apple introduced the Newley redesigned MacBook Pros with just 4 thunderbolt 3 ports, a thinner & lighter design, the butterfly keyboard, and the Touch Bar. And for the past 4 years since that MacBook Pro came out, Apple has been hard at work fixing their biggest mistakes - their inattention to the Mac lineup.

A major Apple mistake was trusting design more than engineering. Engineering is back in charge nowadays...

I've got a 2015 Macbook Pro, I never upgraded since then because I was shocked that the newer versions lost all the ports and magsafe - I love all my connections :D

I invested two years of payments on the top end of MacBook Pro in 2014. When I saw what changed in 2016 i told my pals that I would not buy until they got rid of the butterfly keyboard and the Touch Bar. Now I’m excited to see what 16in MBP with M chips will be like

I bought a used 2015 MacBook Pro last year so I had a proper keyboard, SD card, Magsafe & USB ports.. I do hope they go back to this, I live in hope..

“Kind of forgot” is an awesome, subtle Game of Thrones reference.

I HATED the touch bar. It made doing basic tasks like changing the volume and brightness harder.

The only port I want it to be back: the long gone ethernet port. Sometimes the WiFi in our university accommodation canbe terrible, and I need an ethernet cable for my online classes.

Thanks for your helpful channel. I have a 10+ year old MacBook Pro that (with a few replacements or upgrades) is still serving me well. But I know the day will come when I will have to get a new one, and your reports help me feel as though I will know what I'm getting into. I would certainly be leery of the M-1 chip if people like you hadn't checked it out and shared your findings!

A lot of Apple’s mistakes were really started with the 12-inch MacBook.

I am happy almost no PC copied Apple to drop useful ports.

The Touch Bar has a lot of potential, it’s just not explored enough.

I still use my MBP mid 2014 and believe or not, the machine still works like a charm!!! No vídeo lagging, slow machine, nothing. I still can code, use photoshop, video editing, etc with no issues. Anyway, the good thing that I still have the SD cars port, USB and MAGSAFE. I don’t know why Apple cut this amazing connection. Save my MBP from lot of crash on the floor. I hoe that this can come back because I really want to upgrade my MBP, also to have a more modern technologies on the machine.

One thing I've never heard anyone mention about the touchbar but was a big problem for me: It's mostly redundant. Everything that is on the touchbar is already on the main screen. There's no reason to reach all the way to the touchbar to answer a facetime call when you can just move the mouse cursor on the main screen. Go to just about any app and you'll see that the touchbar is just mimicking the menu that's already on the main screen.

I just updated from a 2012 MacBook pro to the 2020 M1 MacBook Pro.

I like the keyboard and trackpad better on the 2012. I don’t mind the touchbar so far. Still getting used to it.

A MBP trim for software developers would be great as well.
No silly touch-bar and mat screen.

I have had 3 macbook pros now, various models. I consider it to be the ultimate notebook design, even better than the macbook air. The points I have are:

1. Butterfly keyboard. While I never had trouble with it, my PC knockoff of the mac did, and one or two teaspoons of Sprite did it in. I had to replace the whole keyboard.
2. I've only been using the touchbar for 2 weeks, I could take or leave it. When its doing something complex its like "hey, the touchbar is doing something.." after having to move my eyes off the screen. I can touch type, I don't need to see something on the keyboard.
3. Power built into thunderbolt connector. Honestly don't care. If you are worried about snagging a cable, that could happen with USB plugs as well. They put 4 of them on, so you can waste one on the power cable or use a dock.
