With domestic households being responsible for 24% of UK carbon emissions we can all play a role in reducing our impact on the climate. But retrofitting in conservation areas can be complicated, which comes first conservation concerns, or tackling building related carbon emissions?

This session will look at how much local authorities can waver from statutory obligations and if there are ways to work around requirements and obligations so that householders in conservation areas are able to tackle their domestic emissions.

Come and hear from the experience of Bath Community and West in how to tackle retrofit in listed buildings, share your experiences and discussion points.

Speakers:
- Jonathan Ashe, JA Architects
- Sarah Buckingham, Sustainable Design & Heritage Team Leader Planning & Place, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea
- Sara Grimes, Bath & West Community Energy

Correction:
At around 11 minutes, I wrongly stated that there are no Permitted Development Rights for Listed Buildings, to try to get the point across that you HAVE to get LBC to install secondary glazing, or indeed carry out any meaningful work to a Listed Building.
That’s incorrect as PD Rights only apply to Planning consent, so although you may not have to apply for Planning to install secondary glazing, you do have to apply for LBC.
Apologies...the sentiment was correct, but the wording was incorrect in a rush to get the point across.
