100% cotton with at least a 1000 thread count, no less. Best investment ever made, 20 years on I still have them.

I buy white sheets with a high thread count. I wash them in hot water and bleach. I have been doing this for years. It is well worth the money for 1000 thread count sheets. I find them at Ross Stores for under $50 a set of queen size. Nothing feels better than getting into bed with clean sheets. I wash mine once weekly.

Good quality cotton sheets=yes. But as someone with asthma, I recommend a high quality allergy control mattress cover/protector…it’s a must, especially with a new mattress. Same goes for pillows.

When I was a very young child my grandmother always boiled the sheets & towels in the old black kettle and then dry in the sun. Cotton is King!

I've tried microfiber sheets but didn't like the way they felt. They were too hot on my skin. I went right back to cotton.

Great subject Dr. Hansen. Freshly laundered, high thread count cotton sheets put me to sleep within minutes.

My bed is one place I splurge on. Also I have my mattress enclosed in a cover that blocks anything from getting into it and keeps it from getting dust mites, and other types of things. I love soft cotton sheets. I would never use anything else.

I use bamboo sheets. High thread count doesn’t allow for breathability.

I got organic cotton sheets, love them.

There are many other natural materials (silk, bamboo, linen, etc.) made into sheets yet there is no mention of them.

Thread count is not a magic number. You should also consider the type of cotton, the quality of the yarn, the type of weave, and the quality of the production.

The newest trend in Europe is the sheets made with bambo or hemp. These are 'supposedly' much better and healthier than a high thread count cotton. Oh, and much less cost wise. Several studies have been performed and not by the industries that produce them. Actual health agencies have made these studies.

I agree with all Dr. Hansen and I went through out my wardrobe to do the same, sox, underwear, shirts and pants you name it done. Deciding to walk away from soooo much clothes was huge but my health is worth more.
Now finding brands that uphold my standard has been tough.

Great video and topic! Dr Mike what about the actual bedding and pillow materials? Some of the chemicals found in foam can be bad and don't actually have an odor like isocyanates, I think we'd all like to know your thoughts on the rest of our beds 😎

Bamboo is also a great alternative. Generally they are more expensive, but they are sustainable and maximum luxury.
