Three-year-old James Hyatt discovered a potentially £2.5 million gold locket while trying metal detecting for the first time. The device buzzed in a Hockley, Essex field, leading to an 8-inch buried reliquary—a golden container for religious relics. Experts date it back to the early 16th century, possibly linked to royalty. The find is a treasure trove, proceeds shared by James's family and the landowner.

James's father, Jason, amazed, while James humorously said, "We didn’t have a map – only pirates have treasure maps."

The 73% gold reliquary features the Virgin Mary with a cross on the front, and five bleeding hearts on the back. One of four surviving, it'll be valued and possibly offered to institutions like the British Museum.
