Am I the only one who thinks being truthful and being like I actually can't say because it would breach my contract would be easiest? It's genuinely true, and believable, and also means they couldn't ask more questions because clearly, that would also be breaking whatever contract was mentioned. You don't need to say who the contract is with, what kind of contracted job it is, or anything. It would all be breaching the contract, so even if you do have to be secretive, at least you can be truthful about why.

It's completely true and most people will understand and not ask again. They'll probably assume you do some peripheral job related to a not yet released show/movie/game.
