Ready to explore Costa Rica’s best luxury hotels? I’ll take you on a whirlwind tour of my top 5 picks for the ultimate luxury Costa Rica stay, part of my Costa Rica best resorts series. After spending a month in this beautiful country, staying at 29 hotels (and paying for every single one), I’ve whittled down the crème de la crème of Costa Rican luxury. Get ready for a mix of stunning settings, unique experiences, and a few surprises as I crown the ultimate winner, with the help of my mom and my friend Maria.

BELOW IS THE LINK TO EACH HOTEL TOUR + A BOOKING LINKS, PLEASE USE OUR LINK SO WE CAN UNCOVER MORE UNIQUE HOTELS. SWANKS!

Our journey begins at the remote Lapa Rios, nestled in the wild Osa Peninsula, where the jungle meets high-end comfort. Then we’ll swing by the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo, with its endless pools, dining options, and beachfront access—well, sort of. The adventure doesn’t stop there as we venture into the Nayara Tented Camp for a safari vibe amidst volcanic hot springs, before braving the whitewater at Pacuare Lodge, and finally unwinding at the wellness-centric Silvestre in Nosara. Each resort has something unique to offer, but only one can take the top spot.

Been to Costa Rica a zillion times, and of late, rafting Pacuare River is a must before onwards to Puerto Viejo. We settle and love Casa Turire 30 mi. south. It's not cheap, nor as expensive as Pacuare Lodge. I get those that want to get pampered, and when the hotel becomes the destination you'll likely will miss a lot, especially since Costa Rica is overpriced. Returning to CR in October and secured a 2br almost beachfront home at Punta Uva ( Puerto Viejo ) for $170 a night and let the destination's vibrations take over. I did stay at Lapa Rios in the 90's and ran into Julia Roberts there as a guest. I remember the owner was from MN and only had 13 units at that time, Too arid for for me and much prefer the flora and fauna lushness more south.
