The problem is that the left has moved far left left for over a decade now. The center has become far right though they haven’t moved in principals. Politics is relative. The media has largely always titled left. The right has found a voice of its own. The left must face a reckoning that you can’t drag people to the fringes. Unmitigated (illegal)immigration is a perfect example.

You can’t force policies on people, especially left policies. The pension issue was polarizing. I thought it was the right thing pushed for in the only way it could be implemented. Yet it’s unpopular. Macrons innate arrogance is his biggest flaw.

In Australia you can hold senior civil service
and military rank as a dual citizen, but you cannot stand for the federal parliament without formally renouncing all foreign citizenship. A few years ago one individual spent several years and tens of thousands of dollars to formally renounce his Iranian citizenship so he could (successfully) stand for parliament.
