Record it, hit it, get it, go.

You need to make that a t-shirt.

The truth is that if you vlog in public. You will never meet the people you encounter again most likely. And people might stare for some seconds and then they move on and forget about you. And some people just wave at you :P

Anyone who says vlogging is easy is full of crap. It takes work. Great tips btw!

2:56 lady that waved behind probably didn't expect that she'll get seen thousands of times.

Practicing out in public does help. I have noticed that people do not care and will walk right passed you. Also, staying focused on the camera yourself will help with the distractions around you. Thanks again Nick! #1 Educator on YouTube.

This is legit haha. I do real estate videos around the contractors who remodel my homes and it can sometimes throw me off. Good advice!

Fears don’t stand up to being challenged. If you challenge them enough they become familiarity. Great video Nick, really appreciate that you got out of your comfort zone to bring it to us.

I love how you did this video out in public instead of the comfort of your own home! 😊
Great advice!

'Think of the people that are watching the video more than you're thinking of the people that are around you.' That's one of the best tips man! It is really helping even as I'm hearing it right now (had to pause the video just to thank you). Awesome!

Thank you so much for posting this, Nick. I’ve been working on my shyness with vlogging in public because people stare 😳😂 but I know it makes vlogs more interesting and engaging!

What city is that man? Looks so cool. I've found if you just keep vlogging in public, you become less and less self-conscious over time. Especially later on when you're editing, you're more happy that you got the shot, rather than not getting the shot because you were scared. Content is king.

Thank you for making this video. For me, it is just hard to find the words to say when shooting in public areas. 😂 I wish I could do it just like you.

Two things helped me get over the embarrassment of vlogging in public: A professional looking travel tripod (Joby Gorillapod, or like the Manfrotto mini tripod). It made me feel like I looked more like a pro, than some girl with a camera. And a mindset shift from "vlogger" to "documentary film maker". Once someone gave me a weird look on public transportation, and asked "mind if I ask what you're doing?" and instead of saying "I'm vlogging" I said "I make short documentary films". They thought I was legit, and were super impressed. (Although I will say, kids think vloogers are super freaking cool. So, this little life lack works on people of certain generations. Kids like vloggers and want to be vloggers. Older folks respect documentary films. And honestly, you are documenting your life/travels/ whatever. So it works.)

This is a great subject to speak on. I am slowly getting over the “fear” by remembering my reasons for vlogging. Plus the fact that i most likely will never see any of this people again in my life helps a ton. Great video thanks for sharing!

It’s actually so much easier vlogging with a friend than by yourself. I know from experience it makes you feel less crazy. Anyways great video and keep it up your videos are very helpful

Thank you so much for these Nick, they really do help those of us with camera terror when talking to camera outside. After 7 months of practicing, I am now better at ignoring people around me and thinking of the audience, as allowing yourself to be distracted means a waste of yet another take. In some ways busier places are easier as everyone is getting on with their own business while in quieter spots I feel more self-conscious. I've even considered recording in woodlands despite my content being about walks in London! The major problem I still face is seeing myself on video, from a plain ego point of view - lines, chins, bad make-up and all, now THAT'S something I need to overcome!
