Notre Dame, USC, Miami and Georgia stand out in Week 1, should Michigan & Colorado be concerned?

Fox Sports’ lead College Football analyst Joel Klatt reacts to a wild first week of the season. He discusses the teams that impressed him the most including Notre Dame after their huge road win at Texas A&M. He also breaks down the impact of USC’s come-from-behind win over LSU on the Big Ten and Playoff Picture. Miami and Georgia made early-season statements while Clemson continues to fall further from the top teams in the sport, but Klatt reveals why the lack of transfers isn’t the biggest reason for their downturn. Klatt considers whether Penn State is ready to take the next step following an impressive win at West Virginia. Michigan’s win over Fresno State was more difficult than their fans had hoped but Klatt thinks expectations for this team need to be reset while drawing comparisons to previous teams in the Harbaugh era. Colorado and Coach Prime also won their opener with star performances from Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter but were there warning signs of issues that could hurt them down the road? Sponsored by Hampton by Hilton.

Pate and Klatt should teach ESPN how to do this. Their deep analysis and unbiased perspectives keeps me coming back.

Klatt and Pate were some of the only analysts to pick USC to win. You guys actually do your homework. Salute 🫡

USC-LSU was a great game. What a way to close out the weekend with that primetime gem.

Cam Ward looked so calm and in control in the pocket. Was really impressive to watch. Also got a kick out of the Florida recruiting lady trying to keep the Miami players from talking to the recruits

That USC LSU game was incredible. USC WR’s are something else!

2 people I like to get my CFB coverage is both Josh Pate and Joel. Clearly deep in the game and good insight. Not glossing over the sport. Deep dive. My go to. Thanks Joel

Klatt is spot on about Michigan.
The concern is the schedule. Specifically, Texas/USC/Oregon/OSU.

That's a brutal schedule to have in essentially a developmental year.

They have the defense and special teams to win. Offense remains a question mark.

When Penn State, Georgia, Miami and Notre Dame all look great it must be the early 1980s.

"This is early Harbaugh Michigan." Excellent justification for Michigan. Joel consistently grasps the concept.

Notre Dame showed themselves to be a mentally tough team with that game at Texas A&M. USC impressed me as well especially Miller Moss.

NO! The USC/ LSU game was a whole lot better game. The Notre Dame game was kinda boring.

Joel, that was an excellent assessment of big games this last weekend. Additionally, your analysis of the Clemson situation was interesting and accurate. Far better than those trio's of talking heads who make NCAA football a paradox of pin balls. Keep up the good work.

The USC quarterback's touchdown pass against LSU was the greatest of the weekend.
