Hi . I have confusion regarding that in this Simone hat geburtstag . Ich habe ihr gratuliert . Why we use habe in that . In English we said that I congratulated her in that case we cannot use have but in German we use habe why????

Question. I'm a bit confused with when to use the capital 'Ihr' and when to use capital 'Ihre'. Do i use capital 'Ihre' formally when talking to a woman or? I understand that i use 'Ihr' for "Herr Smith, ist das Ihr Auto?", but if i talked to, for example, with a woman, would i then say "Frau Smith, ist das Ihre Auto?"? When using 'Ihr' formally, do i care about the gender of a person, or do i just need to care about the gender of a noun?
