LOVED LOVED LOVED TLC as a child. Listened to this song many times, among many other songs of theirs. They were such a unique trio, with such an array of different vocal talents. In my 38 yrs of life, I have still never heard anyone who could sing like T-boz. That low sultry voice. Such a unique talent. All 3 of them. Left Eye was such a cutie, with a big heart, and talented rapper. Have to add that her voice was adorable, and she could sing too! Chili needs no words from me. Super sexy, beautiful voice, just a gorgeous woman. All 3 of them were stunning ladies. As a child TBoz was my favorite. I always got so excited when I heard songs with her singing in higher tones. I thought, man she can sing anything! ☺ Yes, I am a 90's kid, and the 90's will FOREVER be the best decade to have been a kid in. U would be hard pressed to find a mid 80's born, 90's kid that doesn't agree lol.

Chasing Waterfalls" is TLC's way of expressing how people chase intangible dreams with no thought of the consequences. The first verse is talking about an inner city mother-and-son relationship. He is chasing "waterfalls" (money and respect by dealing drugs), but his mother knows this cannot end well. The second verse deals with a man's relationship with a woman. His "waterfall" is casual sex - he has a "natural obsession for temptation." This could mean he is cheating on someone or the woman he is seeing is cheating on someone. Either way, he contracts HIV and dies ("three letters took him to his final resting place"). TLC were big on AIDS awareness - Left Eye would often wear condoms attached to her clothes and in her glasses to promote safe sex.

In my 19 years of life, I can say that this song has so much meaning in it. My generation has been taught to not enjoy the present but to rush life and do things out of peer pressure. A lot of people tease me because I never had a relationship. I never engaged in having sex with a girl ( Ik it’s TMI), lots of people make fun of me and I realized that it is my life and when I decide to partake in this activities it’s for me. I should do things I am ready for. I say this because growing up so many girls have curved me and rejected me and I thought I was ugly and unattractive. But I came to a realization that when the time comes someone will find me attractive and love me. Like this summer I was highly infatuated with this girl at work and I was dumb and I told people. She rejected me and I thought that maybe it was I was ugly and I came on too strong. I realized that when the time comes it will come. I wanted something just because other people had it and I thought that I was missing out. My problem is that I rush too much. All my life, I sought validation from others and I wanted to be accepted when I realized that God made me unique. I shouldn’t rush life because of others. What I need to do is get my education, take care of my health and eventually a girl might find me attractive. It may take time but life is precious and it should never be rushed.
