No Borders Kitchen -Food for refugees in Chios-

Показать описание
Every day, despite the danger, thousands of refugees still attempt to cross the water between the Turkish coast and the Greek islands, even during the winter. Arrivals average more than thousand a day, and with large increases over the weekend it’s far from unusual that over twenty boats with way over two thousand people arrive in a day.
As european citizens we are in a strong belief that the situation is a collective responsibility, and that it is not up to either the arriving refugees or the Greek volunteers to handle this situation.
Therefor we decided to travel to Chios in Greece to cook vegan food for the thousands of refugees that every day are entering the islands, risking their lives for later to be received by a constantly increasing xenophobic Europe with closed borders.
We will be there from the 23h of february and the next month on (or as long as our economy allow us) collaborating with No Border Kitchen that are cooking between 1000-2000 of meals each day!
However, there is still a huge demand for more meals, which is the reason why we have started this fund in order to raise money to support the Kitchen project in Chios.
Besides being part of the No Border Kitchen our aim is also to document the current situation at Chios and show the effect of the work and efforts of the many volunteer projects like No Borders Kitchen that takes place on the island, in order to encourage more activist from other cities in Europe to come to Greece, or to support the situation in other possible ways.
Even a small amount will help a lot, so please feel free to donate what ever you feel comfortable with :-)
What we are spending the donations on:
Funds will be used to buy food and energy and hopefully employ local people to give the kitchen longevity as well as help the greek economy.
Our personal travel costs to Greece are funded out of our own pockets, but in the case we won’t find free or very low-cost accommodation at Chios a small part of the funding might go to this, as we are traveling on a very tight budget. In this way we will also contribute to the local economy which is still struggling and especially on the islands, which are always the first recipients to the refugee situation.
Thank you so much for all your support, every thing counts
When injustice becomes law resistance becomes duty!
