Lane Johnson says since his retirement Jason Kelce has been in the facility more than most players, has a locker in the coaches room, and has been “seeking advice and opinions” from people about his future.
### Lane Johnson Hints at Potential Coaching Role for Jason Kelce: "He's Been at the Team Facility More Than a Lot of Players"
Retirement hasn't kept Jason Kelce away from the Philadelphia Eagles' facility. Despite stepping away from the game after the 2023 season, the former Pro Bowl center is still a regular presence around the team.
Kelce’s frequent visits have sparked speculation about his future, particularly whether he might transition into a coaching role. Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson recently fueled this speculation during an appearance on "Up & Adams."
"Most definitely," Johnson said when asked if Kelce might become a coach. "He was in the building maybe more than a lot of players this offseason."
So, what does Kelce do at the facility these days?
"He was in there lifting, stretching, and talking," Johnson explained. "I think he was kind of seeking advice from people and opinions about his future. He was in the building a lot."
Kelce’s coaching potential is undeniable, given his passion for football and desire to help others excel. This was evident when he introduced himself to Dylan McMahon, the center the Eagles drafted in the sixth round this April, while McMahon was working out at the team’s facility.
"He's the best center to ever do it," McMahon said of Kelce. "Just to meet him and have him around this building to be able to pick his brain once in a while is just an amazing experience."
However, there are significant deterrents to Kelce pursuing a coaching career, chief among them the time commitment. With three kids and a desire to spend more time with his family, Kelce is also busy with other ventures. He co-hosts a popular podcast with his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and will join ESPN's "Monday Night Countdown" crew this fall.
Given his packed schedule, it's unlikely that Kelce will add coaching to his list of responsibilities anytime soon. Yet, if he ever decides to explore that path, he’s already got a spot ready for him.
"I think he has a locker in the coach's locker room now," Johnson revealed.
