I wish I had the vocabulary to explain why its stronger. Kind of works like a temper on a blade. One layer is strong but doesn't have much elasticity and snaps if it is deflected too much due to be a harder material. The other layer isn't as hard but it has more elasticity keeping allowing it flex without snapping. So when you put them together you get something that is strong and flexible making it much harder to break, and it only broke because the force of the brick was all focused in a tiny area across the edge of the brick causing a high concentration of stress in that one area, and since it hit so high on the board, rather than middle, it wasn't able to flex at all which would allow the energy to be transferred throughout the board rather than in one concentrated area.

this board is so good. I usually snap boards really quick and ive had this for a few months now and it barely has a chip on it. it has amazing pop that really never goes away too!

I've had my flight deck for about a year and a 1/2. I skate every day and it still rides as good as the day I got it....bit of a razor tail though.
